Whatever the case, the sentimental part of my brain sprung into overdrive and I started reminiscing about all the special moments I shared with this key. No really, I felt bad about throwing it away.

So, I put it on a shelf to one day photograph it when the moment was right. Which was today.

The image was created by using sticky squares to fasten the key to glass inside a backless picture frame. Speedlights were placed at 2 o’clock inside a fireplace, and 8 o’clock on a stand. The star scape in the background is created by the dust on the glass, and the colored blotches come from smudges and high contrast surfaces reflected off the glass. No special editing was done except standard Lightroom adjustment sliders.
